red desk

i had some trouble getting the right light in these next photos.

although it could be that 'books are always better than the movie' syndrome- because this desk & chair are so especially fun in real life!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

an in process pic of the veneer being re-glued to the drawer front. i think i count 10 clamps...

So that's how it's done!

I think the desk looks so great. Love the color. The chair looks good with it.
great job.

I was wondering what I could use all those clamps for out in the shed- now I know!

how do you get the drawers sliding smooth on these old pieces? any tips?

to get a smooth glide (or the next best thing- these old pieces can be tricky!) i make sure all the pieces are in working order. often a bit of wood has chipped off or come loose. i replace or repair whatever is needed. then i add some wax or soap to the wood that needs to glide. you might need to do that more than once because old wood really soaks it up.
